SUMMARY:Vísindavaka
DESCRIPTION:Experience the Wonders of Icelandic Nature at Vísindavaka 2024: A Journey with Copernicus and Icelandic Institute of Nature Research.Join us at Vísindavaka 2024 on September 28th\, from 13:00 to 18:00 at Laugardalshöll\, where Copernicus in Iceland and (new) Náttúrufræðistofnun invite you to explore the cutting-edge science that is shaping the future of Iceland’s natural environment. \n\n\n\nInteractive ExperiencesTreasure Hunt Adventure:Focus on Atmosphere Monitoring:\n\n\nVirtual Reality of Reykjanes Eruption: Step into the heart of one of Iceland’s most recent volcanic eruptions with our immersive VR experience. Feel the heat\, witness the power\, and learn how satellites and aerial imagery monitored provides important data for scientists and emergency responders.\n\n\n\nCreate Your Own Satellite: Kids and families can get creative at our satellite-building station! Learn about the technology behind Copernicus satellites and design your own model or just pick up one from the Sentinel family. This fun activity is a perfect way to inspire the next generation of space enthusiasts and scientists.\n\n\n\nExplore Iceland through Maps: Discover some of the most fascinating places in Iceland with our specially curated maps. These maps\, enhanced by Copernicus data\, showcase the beauty and diversity of Iceland’s landscapes\, offering a different perspective on how satellite imagery helps us appreciate and conserve our natural heritage.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCopernicus and NATT’s Treasure Hunt: Embark on an exciting treasure hunt that takes you on a journey through Iceland’s wonders along other booth of Universities and institutions. Using clues and QR codes\, participants will explore the link between Iceland’s environment and the technologies used to study it. Complete the hunt for a chance to win sweet prize and learn more about the science that is around us. \n\n\n\n\n\nCopernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS): Learn how CAMS is track air quality\, greenhouse gases\, and atmospheric phenomena that impact not just Iceland but the entire globe. Through posters and interactive discussions\, see how NATT collaborates with Copernicus and makes maps. \n\n\n\n\n\nDon’t miss this unique opportunity to engage with science in a way that’s both educational and fun! Whether you’re fascinated by volcanoes\, interested in satellite technology\, or just looking for a family-friendly activity\, Vísindavaka 2024 has something for everyone. \n\n\n\n\n\nBasic InfoDate: September 28\, 2024Time: 13:00 – 18:00 (GMT)Language: IS \n\n\n\nWebsite:Read More\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganizer:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPrice:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCategory:\n\n\nFeatured events\, Meeting events\, Workshop events\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhere?

SUMMARY:8th High Latitude Workshop 2024
DESCRIPTION:This two-day workshop focuses on in-situ measurements\, remote sensing\, modeling\, and the long-range transport of high latitude dust in the Arctic. It is expected participation of scientists from 12 countries\, and over 30 presentations on various aspects of HLD and related aerosols\, emphasizing their impacts on the cryosphere and climate. An important part of the workshop is the CAMS User Engagement Session\, which openes a platform for multidisciplinary discussions on air pollution monitoring in Iceland. The session will highlight the integration of CAMS data and introduce the National Collaboration Programme. \n\n\n\nAgendaSpeakersOrganizing teamZoom LinkRegistration\n\nFinal version (12 Feb 2024\, times in GMT – Icelandic time) \n\n\n\nagenda2024c-2Download\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOrganizing team of the 8th HLD Workshop: \n\n\n\n\nPavla Dagsson-Waldhauserova (AUI\, IceDust\, contact: firstname@lbhi.is)\n\n\n\nOuti Meinander (FMI\, contact: firstname.lastname@fmi.fi)\,\n\n\n\nMichaela Hrabalikova (NSI\, contact: firstname.lastname@lmi.is)\,\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDay 1Feb 13\, 2024 Join Meeting\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration is closed! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBasic InfoDate: February 14-15\, 2024Time: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (GMT)Language: EN \n\n\n\nWebsite:Read More\n\n\n\nOrganizer:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCategory:\n\n\nFeatured events\, Meeting events\, Workshop events\n\n\n\n\nPrice:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Venue
