High Latitude Dust Workshop 2022: Field observations and impacts of permafrost on HLD sources
The 6th HLD Workshop was held in Reykjavik on 15-16 February 2022, organized by the the IceDust Association and IBA-FIN-BCDUST-project of MFA of Finland. This year scientists from 12 countries contributed to the hybrid Workshop with 20 presentations and posters. Over 60 attendees followed the event during both days. Current research on all aspects of HLD, other aerosols and their sources in the Polar Regions was introduced. Topics such as HLD in Antarctica, North Eurasia and Canada, HLD in the global dust networks and research initiatives, permafrost as HLD sources, HL ice-nucleating particles, laboratory measurements of HLD and BC, Saharan dust in the Arctic, long range transport of Icelandic dust, and HLD and art, were discussed.
We thank all the participants and attendees for the successful workshop and we look forward to the next 7th HLD Workshop in Reykjavik on 14-15 February 2023! The abstract submission is expected in mid-December 2022 but feel free to send your abstract in advance to pavla at lbhi.is.
