Dust has been identified as important driver in climate change of Polar Regions in the newest IPCC Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate . There is high confidence that darkening of snow through the deposition of light absorbing particles enhances snow melt.
We believe that High Latitude Dust and volcanic dust should be recognized separately from major desert dusts in the next IPCC report.
