The 1st international conference on high latitude dust took place in Reykjavík, Iceland on May 22 – 25 2017. More than 51 scientists from 15 countries contributed by presenting current research on all aspects of dust which is sourced from within the high latitudes (North of 50°N and south of 40°S). Most of the presentations were related to the largest desert in Europe and Arctic – Iceland, while research on dust from Antarctica, Patagonia, Alaska, Greenland, New Zealand, Canada, and Himalaya, was also shown.
The conference was a great success and it opened many research questions in this brand new field of dust research. The organization by the Loughborough University, UK and the University of Iceland was excellent and the organizers attended an internal meeting with the Icelandic Aerosol and Dust Association (IceDust)
