Highlights from the NOSA Symposium 2026 in Lund, Sweden

The Nordic Society for Aerosol Research (NOSA) held the NOSA Symposium 2026 in Lund, Sweden, on 3–6 March 2026. Several IceDust researchers participated in the symposium and contributed to the scientific programme with presentations on high-latitude dust, Arctic aerosols, bioaerosols, microplastics, wildfires, and aerosol-cloud interactions.

IceDust-related contributions included:

Adam Kristensson, who presented work on Nordic dust in Sweden.
Pavla Dagsson-Waldhauserová, who presented on the impacts of high-latitude dust on climate and society.
Aiden Jönsson, who presented research on fluorescence spectroscopy and optical morphology of bioaerosols and high-latitude dust
Þuríður Björgvinsdóttir, IceDust Early Career Scientist representative on the NOSA ECS board, who convened a session and presented chamber measurements.
Nikos Evangeliou, who presented work on microplastics modelling and high-latitude wildfires as an Arctic aerosol source.
Andi Massling, who presented research on aerosol-cloud interactions over the high Arctic.

The symposium opened with the exhibition-performance LUFT: Art of Air in Lund Cathedral, creating a strong connection between aerosol science, art, atmosphere, and public engagement.

We are also pleased to announce that the next NOSA Symposium will be organised in Iceland on 9–12 February 2027, together with the 11th High Latitude Dust Workshop of the IceDust Association.

We look forward to welcoming the NOSA and IceDust communities to Iceland in 2027.
